Physics Performance Demo: Domino Stress Test

As you may recall, we recently published an in-depth article about how we’ve sped up ROBLOX’s physics by 2-4x as a result of modeling collisions using impulses rather than springs. The “impulse solver,” together with three recent bug fixes, has drastically improved the performance and realism of one of our favorite physics-engine stress tests: Ultimate Dominoes! by armitroner. In this test, a single force cascades through thousands of standing parts, causing them to topple in quick succession.

Spotlight: Unprecedented Place Detail With TacoConsumer

Every now and again, we like to show you some awesome places in ROBLOX you’ve probably never seen before. It’s a joy jumping into these virtual worlds, and bearing witness to stunning vistas and huge castles and…a busted up office building? Wait, what?

Seven-day Blog Recap

Scripting in ROBLOX StudioLearning life skills through ROBLOX

In late February, Code.org published a video, in which several tech-industry luminaries extol the values of being able to write code. While the video has an underlying goal of increasing the prevalence of programming classes in schools, it conveys a bigger message: anyone can learn to code and anyone can position themselves to be a successful engineer. In this article, we look at a few key points made in the video and how they relate to ROBLOX (including the variety of valuable life skills users can gain from our platform).
