So, without further ado, I present six of the most awesome places I’ve seen recently, in no particular order. You don’t have to take my word for it either–follow the headline links to experience these awesome places for yourself!

Seven-day Blog Recap

Tax HolidayTake advantage of the tax holiday while it lasts

This weekend, in celebration of Tax Day — you know, the deadline for Americans to file their 2012 taxes, which is not something most people celebrate — we’re holding a “tax holiday” on ROBLOX. What’s that mean? If you’re a wheeler and dealer, this weekend is an optimal time to sell and/or trade items. Limited items are typically quite costly, so this could save you some big time Robux. The cut also applies to group store sales, game pass sales, and sales of all types of clothing. (Currency transactions, as always, are not subject to a marketplace fee.) Point is, if you’re looking to sell and/or trade, now is the time. Take advantage of it before the holiday ends!

Win a Prestigious BLOXY at the ROBLOX Film Festival

ROBLOX International Film Festival PosterForget the Oscars, the Emmys, the Tonys and the Grammys. In the summer of 2013, the most prized award will be a BLOXY– and you could be among the few and proud ROBLOXians to take one home.

This year, we want to see you, the builders and players of the ROBLOX community, share more and more of your creativity and ROBLOXian experience using video. Sure, we’ve already held video contests and made a point of awarding users for their ingenious ideas at last year’s ROBLOX Game Conference, but now we’re thinking bigger, grander and more glorious. We’re thinking worldwide ROBLOX Film Festival, where the winners not only receive BLOXY Awards, but have their films premiered at each BLOXcon in front of a live audience.

What Games and Places Are Earning Robux in April?

In January, we took an extensive look at the games and places that were the most financially successful on ROBLOX. Whether it’s through adding gear to a game, taking advantage of Game Passes or just racking up series visits, there are a lot of opportunities to rake in serious cash. We decided to dig back into the data — this time for April — to see which places are most effectively earning money on a per-visit basis. We also take this opportunity to compare numbers from January with the latest stats to analyze the similarities and differences.

Sellers Unite: A Weekend Tax Holiday For All!

April 15th can be a rough day–that’s the last day for millions of Americans to scrounge up a heap of documents from the past year and file their (ugh) taxes. With that dreadful day looming on the horizon, we’re declaring a tax holiday this weekend to spread a little financial relief! Starting this Friday, we’re cutting marketplace fees in half, meaning all transactions will be subject to only a 15% fee (as opposed to our normal 30%). What does this mean for users?

A few things. If you’re particularly active in the ROBLOX economy, then this weekend would be an optimal time to sell and/or trade items of all sorts and sizes. Limited items are typically quite costly, so this could save you some big time Robux if you’re looking to sell. The cut will also apply to group store sales, game pass sales, and sales of all types of clothing. (Currency transactions, as always, are not subject to a marketplace fee.) You may be able to trade more effectively, as any amount of Robux added to incentivize any given trade will be taxed at half the usual rate.

Spotlight: Incredible Level Detail With Asimo3089

When we announced last week that we’re turning off bevels, Andrew and I were curious to see how this change could affect the appearance of places on ROBLOX. We found it humorous that we both ended up in the same virtual place, right after the bevels were turned off. We both ended up in The Wind, one of the most beautiful places on ROBLOX.

I’ve been using “The Wind” as a benchmark of sorts to gauge changes we make to ROBLOX graphics, because it’s one of the most detailed place I’ve ever seen on our platform. Fire, detailed textures, foliage, moving parts, water—it’s got everything. Deciding to write a Spotlight about the creator of “Wind” (and another awesome place called Roadrunner Canyon, in addition to other games) seemed like a no-brainer.
