We’re always keeping a close eye on fantastic and innovative creations in ROBLOX–and are continually impressed by what we find. Andrew and I go in and out of virtual worlds every single day, so it probably comes as no surprise that we make note of the particularly beautiful places or games we find, for the purposes of articles just like this. Below, you’ll find six creative and beautifully detailed levels that we’ve come across in the past month during our extensive travels throughout ROBLOX. Enjoy!
Far Lands:
Far Lands features a sort of tropical getaway in the form of a floating island; waterfalls cascade off the side of the level into a well a few studs below the baseplate, and there’s some lush and vibrant vegetation to check out. There’s also a highly detailed bell you can take a look at–only then will your attention probably be directed to the massive white cloud hanging precariously over the floating island, as if some sort of natural disaster is seconds away from happening. Oh, and watch your step if you choose to go through the front door.
Kerrus:
This place reminded many staffers of Battlestar Galactica (it looks like the homes did on Caprica–and if it surprises you that we’re big BSG fans here, really?) There’s a smoothness to everything that you just don’t see that often, and there are rotating projections of interesting angular symbols shooting out of certain desks. Our recently enabled subtle dark lines show the complexities of some of the shapes used to create each object. It’s a cool place to check out to just drink in the subtle details.
Phyrus, Capital City:
This massive fort/city belongs to a group called The Archinist Imperium, and is one of several post apocalyptic bases they have built–it features a really unique design aesthetic. Members of the group dress in military garb and custom masks. There’s also a ton to explore–once you get to the front gate, pick up a rocket pack to the left so you can boost your way over the wall. Once inside the compound, there’s an awesome castle to explore, merchants to purchase goods from (there’s a really awesome re-texture of the Ro-tor cycle), an interesting teleportation system and much more. While I was there, one of the admins of the game stopped in the middle of a tour, ordered users to seek shelter, then made it rain hundreds of missiles from a remote silo. It was pretty awesome, I must say.
Ruins:
We love it when place titles effectively describe what you’re going to see–and Ruins is one of the places. Jump in to find an abandoned but beautifully created relic of the past–what was once some sort of structure has long since abandoned. Some pillars still stand, while others have fallen to the ground. Small streams and tiny waterfalls have created vegetation in the form of patches of grass and mold on the columns. And yes, there is a particular part of the level where you can do a little swimming in order to gain access to a hidden cave below the level.
Lando’s Apartment:
This ultra detailed apartment features a ton to explore. Once spawned, you’ll find yourself street side where pedestrian cars will zip by (and yes, they will hit you and knock you off the map, so look both ways!). The inside of the apartment made us almost twinge in jealousy–if this was real, it’d be one nice place. There are numerous rooms, pieces of framed art on the wall, a massive living room, a kitchen, recreation room and more. You can even head climb a ladder and head out to the roof/terrace, which features a fountain, numerous sheds, and even a bench to just sit and ponder. If I lived here, I’d never move.
Crown System:
This is, hands down, one of the most massive creations we’ve ever seen. If you’re looking to do some exploring, this is where you need to go. This isn’t even really a singular place–you can hop on one of the many transport ships (granted, you’re going to need a United Nations Space Command-approved pilot to take you “off world” to fully explore the bases set up on different planets.) There are “Pelicans” to control (which are small transport ships) and massive space-turrets to man–there’s a ton of awesome creations within the seemingly never-ending confines of this place. The amount of detail is pretty amazing when you consider the massive size of the map.
