Every week, we’re busy telling the stories behind our platform, our technology and our place in the gaming and technology industries. For those of you who catch up with ROBLOX over the weekend, the Weekly ROBLOX Roundup collects the best stuff to hit our various avenues of publication in the last week. This time: the announcement of BLOXcon, a recap of the first Behind the BLOX at ROBLOX HQ, St. Patty’s gear bundled with prepaid ROBLOX cards, a new series where the ROBLOX team responds to comments on blog stories, ROBLOX’s expansion, Washington D.C. rebuilt in ROBLOX, and other bits and pieces. Enjoy.
Seven-day Blog Recap
Introducing BLOXcon
In 2011, it was the ROBLOX Rally. Last year, it was the ROBLOX Game Conference. This year, we’re taking our show on the road and bringing with us a new name: BLOXcon. BLOXcon will focus not just on games, but building – the core of ROBLOX – and we felt the old name didn’t do the new direction justice. We’ll be hosting BLOXcons in Chicago, London and New York City this summer. To learn more about the event and upcoming ticket sales, see Friday’s official announcement!
Photos and video from the first Behind the BLOX
A couple weeks ago, we announced Behind the BLOX, a weekly, Friday-afternoon event that sees us opening the doors of ROBLOX HQ and inviting in several ROBLOX users. We held the first session of Behind the BLOX on March 1st and collected photos and video, which you can see here. We’re running Behind the BLOX to improve ROBLOX. As John Shedletsky said, “user testing reminds us that being ROBLOX experts is not the same as being ROBLOX user experts. The users have a ton to teach us about our product and how it is used.” If you want to sign up to attend, complete this quick form!
Get St. Patty’s gear bundled in with ROBLOX cards
Every month, we offer a selection of free gear that you receive for redeeming ROBLOX cards from particular stores. We recently swapped in new gear and hats for the month of March, and they’re sure to help you celebrate the fast-approaching St. Patrick’s Day!
Our comments on your comments
Many readers pour significant time into writing thoughtful replies to our blog articles, and we want to do a better job of addressing them. We introduced Comments on Comments as a monthly series that will focus on responding to your great questions and feedback. In this, the first edition, we cover topics like physics, character animation, ROBLOX’s plans for the year and more.

You should play this ROBLOX game
Washington, District of Columbia is Washington D.C., rebuilt in ROBLOX. It’s a huge, sprawling level where players can join groups — FBI, Secret Service, Police and many more — and immerse themselves in the D.C. life. It is, of course, impressive to see a well known locale modeled within ROBLOX, but it’s more than just window dressing. Join the right group — or make the right friends — and you’ll be able to cruise the streets in cars and even get inside the White House, which is surprisingly detailed. I had a good time here; not just for the scenery, but for the game that evolved.
The game’s owner, Nightgaladeld, notes that user Baxterknite assisted the project as a scripter and NCISrox as a builder.
