A few weeks back, we asked our Content Team what video games they’d been spending their time playing. From platformers to RPGs, their answers were as varied as the types of games you’d find here on ROBLOX. This time, we decided to ask the Web Team what games they play after work and over the weekend, and the answers were pretty surprising. Check it out.
Toby Teel – Web Team Lead
Wing Commander Saga is a free game that is actually a fan remake of a series from the late 80s. Basically you have dog fights in space with disgruntled aliens. It’s always great to see games that keep the spirit of their predecessors alive while adding new and unique features, and that’s exactly what this fan-made game does. It’s a single player campaign with a story arch that is epic and deep. And little touches, like the realistic and often hilarious banter between pilots keeps me super entertained.
Wing Commander Saga is most like…Jet Wars: Advanced Battle. It may not take place in space, but it features some epic dog fights and jets packing serious heat.
Cullen Reilly – Software Engineer
I play Fat Princess, which is a class-based capture the flag game. The objective is to capture the other teams’ princess while defending your own. Though it’s been out for a while, I really like the cartoon art style and the levels are designed extremely well. It’s a great pick-me-up game–you don’t have to invest a ton of time with it, you can just boot it up, get a quick game in, and be done with it. I also find graphic cartoon violence to be hilarious in and of itself.
Fat Princess is most like…Well, Fat Princess. Turns out, user theRal developed a ROBLOX version of Fat Princess a few years ago. Last time we checked it wasn’t working too well. Luckily, with our recently released CTF template, there are lots of great capture the flag style games on ROBLOX, and there should be plenty more in the future.

I’ve been playing a game called Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion. It’s a strategy game based in space that features a really nice balance between casual and hardcore Real Time Strategy game mechanics. The game itself is beautiful and the levels are well designed. The entire game has a sort of playful feeling–it’s super polished and really entertaining. The game itself doesn’t have too much of a framework, and I like that. You’re free to set it up anyway you want. There’s a diplomacy system and you can make alliances and enemies with strangers online. It’s fun stuff.
Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion is most like…Territory Conquest Beta, a popular and recently-added RTS style game. Weo understand that building RTS games on our platform can be tricky, and we’re actively working on updating our lobby mechanisms so that ROBLOX RTS games can put all players into the start of a game.
Navin Lal – Web Team Lead
I picked up Saints Row: The Third from The Humble THQ Bundle. It’s a ridiculously over the top sandbox game that’s 100% focused on being fun. I don’t have a ton of time to play; so far I’ve used a bunch of cheat codes, made a character that looks like Bruce Willis, and spent most of my time re-enacting scenes from Die Hard.

Call me old school, but every time a new Call of Duty game comes out, I’m instantly hooked. When looking forward to this release, every time I saw the title “Call of Duty: Black Ops 2” all I actually saw was “Zombies of Zombies: Zombies Zombie 2”. The new Zombies mode is crazier than ever–rather than giving you a bunch of maps to learn, this time you’re given just one huge map with completely different ways to approach the challenge. In addition to staying alive, you’ve got to work together to build parts (I recently made a zombie shield out of a car door and some tape), power different sections of the map, and keep a bus running to get you from place to place (the driver is a bizarre zombie robot). It’s frantic, chaotic, and really fun to play with others.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 is most like…Call of Robloxia 5: ROBLOX at War. This one is kind of a no-brainer (which is a deliberate zombie pun) but ROBLOX at War features some frantic online gameplay with different classes and weapons to utilize. And it’s one of the highest played games ever on our platform, having received 14.8 million visits by the time of this writing. Litozinnamon, any plan to add a zombies mode?
