Uploadable sounds

The time has arrived! One of the most requested features of all time, the ability to upload your own sound effects and music clips, has gone live on ROBLOX.com. Hundreds of sound effects have already made their way into the database, and many of them have even been made free for the taking by their generous uploaders. Let large levels faster and on more devices with streaming parts

ROBLOX’s Client Networking Team has tasked itself with an ambitious three-pronged goal: decrease join times into games, allow builders to make more complex places and creations, and offer support for all types of legacy hardware and mobile devices. We are taking a big step forward toward all three goals with a new technology we unveiled last week known as streaming parts. In the most basic sense, this technology allows you to play games while they load and play larger games on limited hardware (e.g., mobile devices) by streaming parts in and out around your character. ROBLOX Battle goes open source

ROBLOX Battle: Big PictureOver the past couple months, we’ve been covering the development of ROBLOX Battle, which has transitioned from a classic deathmatch arena to a game loaded with play modes, tactical choices, social spaces and more. Most recently, Sorcus — who’s been leading the charge on the game’s overhaul — explained how everything the Game Team did to the game has been informed by player metrics. In particular, the team used an in-game statistics GUI, which tracks player behaviors and is now available for you to try as part of the entire ROBLOX Battle now-open-source code base.
