Trade All the Things! A Guide to the ROBLOX Trading System

Chart IllustrationAbout a week ago, we loosened up the ownership restrictions on limited items to allow users to possess multiple copies of the same item. One of the effects of this change is it is now much much easier to make trades with other players. In the past, if a player wanted to send me a trade, he would have to have items I didn’t already own. For a lot of our power users, this can be really difficult!

Since implementing this feature, I’ve personally seen my number of incoming trade offers triple. A quick look at the database confirms that there are now roughly 55% more trade offers flowing through our system. It’s been about eight months since we published our last guide to the Trading System. What better way to usher in the trading renaissance than to provide some tips and tricks for would-be traders?

Purchase and Trade Multiple Copies of Limited Items Today

Starting today, you can purchase and trade multiple copies of the same limited item. We’ve made this change to simplify our economy while simultaneously expanding it–in particular, it offers you much more flexibility when trading within the ROBLOX economy. Before we go into any more detail, keep this in mind: this doesn’t mean you can purchase multiple limited items from us, but you can purchase and trade multiple copies of the same item from other users. 

We recognize that “item hoarding” is a talking-point among the community, though we don’t think this should be cause for concern. If you’re planning on going out and blowing 100,000 Robux on 100 copies of the same hat, we recommend rethinking that strategy. There’d be no value in it–the market mechanics of supply and demand would make it difficult to resell those hats at a profit.

ROBLOX Introduces Robux to Trading System

ROBLOX already features a robust trading system where Builders Club members can exchange goods and barter for limited items and weapons, but actual Robux have never fit into the equation. Starting today, we’re enhancing the system by allowing you to add Robux to trades. This new feature will allow users to make more equitable trades, while simultaneously setting the ground work for some upcoming innovations.

Trading for Profit (and Fun): The One-Week Challenge, Part 2

The goods: a new ROBLOX account and $20. The plan: trade like a maniac. The goal: accumulate tons of loot using nothing but trades.
