At long last, we’re ready to announce the venue for the third ROBLOX Game Conference of the summer, which is taking place on August 10, 2013, in bustling New York City.
Or should we say just off the piers of New York City?
Continue readingIf you’ve been keeping up with our ROBLOX Game Conference announcements, you know that we’re taking RGC 2013 on the road, and will be stopping off at the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago on July 13, before traversing the Atlantic to visit our UK fans in London. What you don’t know is where we’re going in London, and where we’re going after that.
A couple weeks ago, we released a survey to find out where we should host ROBLOX Game Conference 2013. Since then, we’ve been leaking bits and pieces of information via the ROBLOX forums and Twitter, but not so much that we slowed the rumor mill. Will there be more than one? Where will they be held? Are there really going to be hobos? Today, we’re clearing the air – partially, at least.
There will, in fact, be three ROBLOX Game Conferences, in three separate locations. First up will be RGC Chicago on July 13th, 2013. The venue? The Museum of Science and Industry, right on the shore of Lake Michigan. We’re heading east from there. Waaay east. The second RGC will be in (drumroll… wait for it… the suspense!)… London! We’ll be there for a day of awesomeness on July 27th, 2013. It’ll be a proper good time, it will. Then we’ll be stateside again for the third RGC in August, but you’ll have to wait and see exactly where.
Continue readingWe’ve begun planning our annual ROBLOX Game Conference for 2013, and we need your help. We understand that not everyone on ROBLOX can make it to the Bay Area each and every year–we figured it was time for us to do some traveling for a change. That’s where you come in. Taking this survey will help us determine where RGC 2013 is going, and arguably more importantly, what you’d like to see during this year’s event.
We’d appreciate if you could take five minutes out of your day to fill it out.
Continue readingROBLOX Game Conference 2012 had music, lights, crowds and noise – distractions at every turn. It was the type of environment where you don’t get work done. Yet, in the gated-off space behind the black Hackathon sign, ROBLOX users intently churned out code and built complex structures – with the pressure of limited time, no less – like the rest of the conference didn’t exist.
Now that’s composure.
Continue readingOver the past several months, Client Engine Lead Simon Kozlov has been working on some prototype videos that showcase the potential look of ROBLOX in the future. He shared them at ROBLOX Game Conference 2012, and now we’re showing them to the community at large. It’s important to note that these videos are prototypes and there is no projected release date, but the differences are staggering.
“We spent a lot of time talking about what kind of look is right look for ROBLOX,” said Kozlov. “We looked at a lot of different types of effects to determine what works and what doesn’t.”
Continue readingWe recognize that holding the ROBLOX Game Conference in California creates an insurmountably long haul for some of our users in other parts of the country — and the world. So, if you couldn’t make the trip this year or just want to relive the excitement of the event, take a look through this photo and video gallery.
